Welcome to my little corner of the sea
Here you’ll find sketches, paintings, handmade houses, and the thoughts that drift between them
Hello
I'm Emsie
I'm a Cornwall based artist, working in mixed media, with a love of sketchy lines, rich textures and expressive colour. My work is inspired by places, memory and everyday life.
Working Across Mediums
I love experimenting with different materials and combining them in unexpected ways — watercolour, ink, pastel, pencil and mixed media each bring something unique to a piece.
A Lifelong Love of Making
I've always loved being creative. Ever since I was young, I've been happiest when making something with my hands, whether that was drawing, painting, crafting, or simply experimenting with new materials.
My work is less about perfection and more about feeling, memory, and the quiet beauty of everyday things.

My approach
A Never-Ending Journey
Art is a continual journey for me, and one of the things I enjoy most is learning. I'm always exploring new techniques, mediums, and ways of seeing the world.
Rather than being tied to one particular style, I love the freedom of trying different approaches. Here are a few favourites from along the way.

What inspires me
Almost Anywhere
The colours of the sea, changing skies, old buildings, a walk through the countryside, a favourite café, or a bustling harbour — all of it can spark an idea.
Living in Cornwall is a constant source of ideas. The coastline, beaches, fishing villages, and ever-changing light provide endless subjects to explore. I particularly enjoy urban sketching and painting on location, taking time to slow down, observe, and connect with a place.
My sketchbook is never far from reach. I enjoy capturing places, moments, and details that catch my eye, from beautiful Cornish harbours and coastal walks to quiet everyday scenes. Sometimes a quick sketch becomes a finished painting; other times it simply becomes part of the creative process.
